Just install the ntfs-3g plugin for macfuse. I don't believe they're interchangeable within the same session (ie you'd have to pick one and either restart service or restart the machine).
It's either you use the ntfs-3g driver with write access or you're using the native OS X ntfs read only driver. are there implementations for other file systems like NTFS? If so, how are those handled? I'd imagine something relatively transparent would be nice, given that OS X can *read* NTFS but not write to NTFS, so maybe on recognition of an NTFS drive by OS X, a hand-off can be performed to Fuse.
